Next-generation innovations.

From locking remotely using your smart phone, to parking in the trickiest of spaces, the new BMW 3 Series Touring is packed with technological innovations that make every aspect of driving a simple, intuitive pleasure.

The new BMW 3 Series Touring also features BMW ConnectedDrive as standard. This is the intelligent linking of vehicle, driver and outside world. It makes sure you’re always connected. So you experience the benefit of: 4G capability for navigation, active cruise control, free automatic map updates and Bluetooth connectivity.

Automatic boot opening.

To access the boot when your hands are full, the innovative comfort access system allows you to open it without even touching it. The system will cleverly sense that the car key is present, after which a quick wave of your foot under the bumper will activate a sensor that pops it open.

When sitting in the cockpit, all the information you need will be right in front of you, thanks to the BMW Head-Up Display. It projects data onto the windscreen in high resolution and full colour, with the projection appearing as if it were approximately 2.3m in front of the car. This allows it to be read quickly and easily, with minimal distraction.
Information displayed includes your current speed (and depending on equipment) navigation tips, speed limit info, telephone and entertainment lists, along with information and warnings from the various driver assistance systems. And because the BMW driving experience is tailored to you, you will only see information that you choose to see.

Intelligent systems for easier parking are available as an option with the new BMW 3 Series Touring. For example, Park Assist makes parking parallel and perpendicular to the road into a hassle-free experience. Whether activated or not, the system measures potential spaces – even tight parallel parking spaces – while driving past at a low speed (below 21 mph) and at a maximum distance of 1.5 m from the row of parked cars. When a large enough gap has been found, the driver simply turns on the indicator and Park Assist takes over the steering, while the driver continues to operate the accelerator, gears and brakes.

Driving Assistant.

The BMW Driving Assistant feature (standard on all models) spots danger before it’s too late. Lane Departure Warning, for example, detects lane markings and alerts the driver to an unintentional lane change (ie when the indicator has not been activated) at speeds above approx. 70 km/h.
Additionally, If a vehicle ahead brakes suddenly, Approach Control Warning is immediately activated – flashing a symbol at first, before emitting a warning sound and finally lightly applying the brakes.
The Pedestrian Warning operates in a similar way, warning of a potential collision with a pedestrian by emitting a warning and pre-conditioning the brakes for a faster response. In the event of an emergency, the system actually applies the brakes. (This function can be limited by darkness and fog).
